A technical seminar on “Vehicular Communication and Automotive Radar for Intelligent Transportation System” was held at the University of Creative Technology, Chittagong (UCTC). Dr. Md. Anowar Hossain, Researcher, Prince Sultan Defence Studies and Research Centre (PSDSARC) under the Ministry of Defence, Saudi Arabia was present as the keynote speaker for the seminar. The objective of the seminar was to search for a state-of-art solution for the transportation problem of the future world introducing Intelligent Transportation System (ITS).

At the beginning of the seminar Engr. Tahmid Towsif Ahmed, Lecturer of the Department of Civil Engineering presented a small introduction on how ITS address the problems on roads and highways. Later Dr. Anowar led the seminar showing the usage of the Road Side Units (RSUs) and communication between vehicle to vehicle (V2V) to develop a precise location for the vehicle. The model reduces the positioning error, more neighbor vehicles improve the positioning accuracy and reduce the number of required RSUs.

In the second part of the seminar, Dr. Anowar showed the method for separating the interference from the diverse Frequency-Modulated Continuous-Wave (FMCW) radar to detect any false targeting. In the final part of the seminar, the speaker showed the implementation of RSU in ITS for developing a realistic traffic and wave propagation model and improving positioning accuracy. RSUs and TMS-assisted cooperative driving approach is proposed to be capable of global estimation of vehicle data (vehicle density, position, and speed). Honorable Vice-Chancellor of the UCTC, Professor Md Younus called an end to the seminar by describing the importance of the seminar and discussing on how ITS can be useful in Bangladesh.
